TIPS FOR STAYING HEALTHY.

 Some choices we make in life can really create a big difference as far as mental and physical health is concerned. Many of these choices lies in your hands, of course other factors like age, family history, and genetics can also influence you health.  There are also some factors you can control which play the roles of keeping you healthy and lengthening your life span on earth. Let us dive in to some of the tips for good health and longevity. 

The first and most important is, get moving. This is achieved through regular exercises which benefit our bodies and minds in multitude of ways. Exercises make our bodies more energized, healthier, and in a better mood. It boosts the brain and improve your cognition this reducing the risk of dementia. When someone does regular exercises, it's believed that the risk of depression and anxiety is reduced. Regular exercises also save us from getting chronic illnesses or diseases like diabetes and several types of cancer since staying active may help reduce the risk of developing these illnesses. Second, eat whole foods or less processed foods because they don't contain a lot of added chemicals or artificial ingredients that might not be friendly to the general health of the mind and body. Examples of these whole foods include, fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds, legumes, eggs, whole grains, fish and seafood, and plain yogurt. Eating more of processed foods like processed meat, flavored yogurt and sugar-sweetened beverages can be dangerous to your health. That's because they have less nutrients in comparison to whole foods. Third, quit smoking because it damages almost every organ of the body and causes diseases like stroke, lung cancer and other cancers as well as heart diseases. Fourth, stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, your body needs water for so many reasons like digestion, maintenance of the body temperature, delivery of nutrients to cells of the body, and proper working of organs. Drink at least 9 and 13 cups of fluid per day for women and men respectively. Finally, let's make sleep a priority. Sleep is so crucial for normal functioning of our bodies, if you don't sleep properly, your body will have a hard time to work normally. And it increases the risk of hypertension, anxiety, depression, metabolic syndrome, and cardiovascular diseases. How much sleep individuals sleep varries according to age, but for most adults, it's at least 7 hours of sleep each night. When you are sleeping in the night, make sure the room is dark quiet and comfortable, and avoid screen time before bed. By doing these, you can live a long, active, healthy and productive life desired by everyone else.
