FAHION and CHRISTIANITY


  FASHION: This is defined and perceived in various ways and the question to ask yourself as a person whether you Christian or not what fashion for you is. 

Remember we are moving more with the Christian perspective of things here and we want to transform our lives, minds, and actions for the better, therefore we are to ask ourselves how should we look like, and dress as Christians?

Fashion is the vital indicator of what it is to be modern, and central to how wish to be recognized as individuals in the world.

Some companies now set the fashion standards for most people like CHRISTAN DIOR, LOUIS VUITTON, CHANNEL, ADDIDAS, FENDI, and so on, and am not saying it's wrong to wear brands but as a Christian men and women these are not to be our identity indicators for, we have and find our identity in Christ.

FASHION IN CHRISTIANITY TODAY

The church has always had a negative view of fashion but let's not forget there are Christians out there who are designers and aspire to be one, we have a full chapter in Exodus 28 dedicated to how the priestly garments were to be made and look therefor I highly disagree that we should be against fashion but instead we ought to know we agree with it to what extent and which value do we give it as Christians.

God is creative and the greatest designer I have ever seen, no field has no creativity, and fashion sure is very creative from the artists to the seamstresses the models to the people buying and wearing them it all requires taste and creativity, there is no greater art piece you could ever find than the natural wonders created by God. For example, when Adam and Eve sinned and covered themselves with leaves, He made them clothes from animal skin I mean I bet they were chic at least from my perspective. There is a whole instruction on how God wanted the tabernacle to look like in Exodus (design matters).

Yes, the fall of man meaning sin has had its greatest impact on fashion today and due to this Christians, we need to be more and more involved in fashion and make a big impact on the world too for as we were restored through salvation everything about us in and out should be restored ad held captive to the lord.

There are various ways we can portray and called to dress like in the bible : Now if you looking for how to make skinny jeans and all in the bible then you are completely lost but what I can say is that clothing is not a doctrine and not as important as believing in salvation the trinity and all ,yet since all scripture is inspired therefore we need to put into consideration what the Bible says about our dressing. I can't address everything the bible says but you are leaving comments and questions that we will be glad to answer.


1. OUR CLOTHING SHOULD BE MODEST: As Christians we are called to be modest not just women since this verse is usually only addressed to women but men also likewise need to be modest in their dressing for there is something called indecent clothes for men too, for your style wither a man or woman should not come at the price of making your brother and shamble. 

(1timothy2:9-10) speaks more to women for women we can mean to overdo it at times, but we are truly blessed in the Lord so let's be presentable for modesty does not mean shabby. For we are often told that it's our hearts that honor the Lord in worship but also our outward appearance should reflect him too.

The Bible does allow people to dress down to worship which brings me back to saying modesty doesn't mean dirty (james2:2-5). Whether you have flashy clothes or not you are a vessel of the Lord and exposing yourself to how the world views fashion is not recommendable. As the Bible says you are fearfully and wonderfully made so view yourself as God views you PRECIOUS.

2. CHRIST IS THE FOCUS OF ATTENTION: Christ is the centre of attention in our lives as Christians, we are to portray him in everything we do and what we wear is among, most especially during worship, (1peter3:3-4) urges us that a gentle and quiet spirit is in Gods sight very precious. 

Just as Christ is the prize our dressing should be missional for our great commission is to spread the gospel and win souls and people for the kingdom of God, your clothes can evangelize to someone and it can also lead the weaker brother astray and yet we are supposed to be our brother's keeper in everything that we do (1corthians9:20-22).

CONCLUSION

 As you are planning to dress and go out there ask yourself am I portraying the image of God in my outfit, hairstyle, and walking. Do people view Christ in me from a distance? Or not. You ought to believe in the sufficiency of scripture and relate everything you do to the Lord.
